Onse Volckert is probably the painter Volckert Adriaen van Lier, active in Vienna from about 1656 to 1671 (Wate Leurensz. was born in Lier). A painting of a landscape by Volckert van Lier is recorded in the inventory of Lambert Hermansz. Blaeuw (INVNO 101, R 55 of Montias2). Wate Laurensz. and his wife owed a house in the Goudebloemstraet in Amsterdam which had cost f 1,600, of which 650 f. had been paid. On 16 May 1620, Wate Laurensz., from Lier, droochschilder, 25, living in the Commersteechje, assisted by his father Laurens Teunis, was betrothed to Aeltje Pieters, 21, living on the Lelygracht, assisted by her mother Aeltje Pieters (DTB 424/234). On 19 August 1621, Watte Laurens, cloth finisher, and Ael Pieters had their son Pieter baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Sara Pieters and IJtgen Laurensdr. (DTB 5/360). On 29 September, the couple had their daughter Susanna baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Aeltje Pieters (the grandmother) (DTB 6/28). On 22 September 1630, they had a second son named Pieter baptized in the N.K. in the presence of Saertje Pieters (DTB 41/97). |
