CommentaryOn 23 January 1652, Pieter van Alteren, from Middelburgh, fiscal of the Lords of the Admiralty, assisted by his father Sym van Alteren, was betrothed to Anna Boom, from Amsterdam, 21 years old, assisted by her uncle Salomon van Schoonhoven, reeve of Armveen, and her nichte Sara Roch (DTB 469/427). Because the original document has been burned, it is not clear whether Anna Boom remarried after the death of her first husband Pieter van Alteren and with whom. No such second husband is mentioned by Elias (Vroedschap van Amsterdam, p. 433). According to Elias, Anna Boom. baptized in Amsterdam on 29 December 1630, was the daughter of Dr. Cornelis Boom and of Maria van Schoonhoven. He was counsellor and Advocaat-Fiscal of the Admiralty and reeve of the Beemster in 1667, the year of his death. As a widow, Anna Boom was taxed on the basis of wealth estimated f. 283,000. The marriage produced four children, including Catharina van Alteren who married Jacob Sas van den Bosch, also a counsellor of the Admiralty, cited in the INTRO. Daniel van Geel's wife (N.N.) was the sister of Anna Boom (ibid.) After the death of her husband, in 1669, Anna Boom bought a house on the Keysersgracht from Dr. Francois de Vicq for f. 10,000. She and her brother-in-law Daniel van Geel submitted plans for the house to the city (Jaarboek Amstelodamum 7(1909), p. 77).
