CommentaryFrederick Schoensteen and Adriana Ollaerts were betrothed on 19 April 1669 in the Church (DTB 424/227). Esaias David Meurant, who was one of the testamentary guardians of the children of Frederick Schoonsteen and Elisabeth Meulemans, was a Latin teacher. Frederick Schoonsteen, map illuminator (caertsetter), testified at Meurant's request, regarding Remonstrant gatherings that had taken place in the Warmoesstraat (Van Dillen, Documenten bettreffende de politieke en kerkelijke twisten in Bijdragen en mededeelingen van het historisch genootschap Utrecht, 59(1938), pp. 247-249). David Jansz. Ypelaer, who was the guardian by testament of the children of Frederick Schoonsteen and Elisabeth Meulemans, was married to Amelia Jacobs de Berg in Amsterdam on 25 November 1634 (De Navorscher, 32(1882), p. 63). In a deposition of 27 November 1635, he was said to be in his thirties (the exact age cannot be read in the microfilm) (NA 695A, film 4981, Not. J. Warnaerts). On 10 January 1637, Cornelis van den Burght, 57, sworn broker, declared at the request of Frans Lieshout (of R 20561 of Montias2), that he had been at the house of David Jansz. Jpelaer and asked the latter's wife whether she wished to lease her house on the Oudt Wttersche Steyger, bij de [...]brugh, but she answered that the house was leased to Jan van Belle (probably of R 27010 of Montias2) (NA 695B, film 4821). On [...] May 1650, Abraham Jansz. Cousenaer, who owed David Jansz. Ypelaer 13,500 f., ceded to him, as security for the debt, all his household goods, including his paintings (not itemized) (NA 1599, fol. 106, Not. W. Hasen). David Ypelaer was the brother of Gabriel Jansz. Ypelaer of INVNO 264. According to S.A.C. Dudok van Heel, Frederick Schoonsteen and Elisabeth Meulemans were Roman Catholic. Frederick Schoonsteen died before 29 October 1647 when Rutger Wilses acknowledged a debt of 32 f 11 st. 8 pen. to the heirs of Frederick Schoonsteen (NA 1600, fol. 44, Not. W. Hasen).
