Michiel Silkens. Postscript: Actum in Amsterdam ende in delen inventaris begonnen den derden Octob. 1670 ende voltrocken den tiende Januarij 1671.
Commentary	The owner of the goods in the present inventory was Michiel Silkens II, the son of Michiel Silkens I of INVNO 2019, who was baptized on 14 July 1633 (DTB 41/262). His mother was Agnieta van Glasbeeck. He must have died about 1670. If we may judge by the books he owned (see below), he was Reformed and probably Remonstrant. On 14 January 1627, Michiel Silleken (or Tsilleken) (I), van Hommersen (in Frisia), wijnhandelaer, 30, assisted by Heijndrick van Vochelen, his former master, living on the O.Z. Voorburchwal, was betrothed to Agnieta van Glasbeck, from Ceulen, 34, no living parents, assisted by Margriet van Glasbeck, her sister, living as above (DTB 432/13). On 14 July 1633, Michgel Silleke (I) and Angniet van Glasbeck had their son Michgiel baptized in the N.K. in the presence of Pieter Parijs (DTB 41/262). On 27 January 1628, Angnies van Glabeck and Michiel Silke (I) had their son Wilhelmij baptized in the presence of Lucas Valckenburch of R 36238 of Montias2, Jan Munter, and Christintgen Michiels (DTB 6/196). On 3 January 1640, Michiel Sillekens (I), wine dealer, and Jan Molengraef stood surety for Dirck Thomasz. Molengraef in connection with the inheritance due by the latter to his children (INVNO 317, R 235 of Montias1). Michiel Silleken I seems to have been Roman Catholic (portrait of the King of Spain, two portraits of the Infant Cardinal, etc..). Michiel Silkens II, of the present inventory, who was the widower of Maria Teeuwen, owned Protestant books, some of which were Remonstrant: Eusebij, Kerckelijcke historie Dordrecht, De Christelijcke Godgelenteijt, Leven en sterven van Jan Aldenbarnevelt, Anatsonomen Arminia. Note that Wilhelmus Silken, cited in the INTRO as the guardian of the two daughters of Catharina and Agneta, is probably identical with Wilhelmij, the child of Michiel Silkens I, who was baptized in 1628 (see above).
