Commentary	Note that these art objects are in addition to those that were sold on 12 May 1621, which brought 942 f. Altogether the two sales brought 2959 f. 2 st. 12 pen. The adress --in de Campertooren-- confirms a remark in Arnold van Buchell's diary dated 1619 where he notes that he had seen a portrait of Albert Martens and his first wife, he being a wijncoper inden Campertooren (Hoogewerff and Regteren Altena, Arnoldus Buchelius 'Res pictoriae', p. 47). He invested 1,800 f. in the first subscription for V.O.C. shares (Van Dillen, Het oudste aandeelhoudersregister, p. 177). On 4 September 1590, Albert Marts and Anne Witten had their son Jan baptized in the N.K. in the presence of Anna van Bamben, his godmother (DTB 38/158). This child may be identical with Jan Albertsz., painter, who bought a lot at Orphan Chamber auction when he was 17 years old (R 30543 of Montias2). On 7 November 1602, Albert Martensz., wine dealer, and Anne Witten had their son Claes baptized in the O.K. in the presence of Aefgen Claes (DTB 4/48). On 23 May 1604, the couple had their son Abraham baptized in the same church in the presence of Anne Martens (DTB 4/92). In 1606, Albert Martsz. , living in the Campen Thoorn, bought lots in the Haarlem lottery for 3 f. 12 st. (GAA, 21/51 F 148). Anna Witten, the first wife of Albert Martsz., died before 5 August 1615 when Jan Cornelisz. Visscher and Cornelis Lucasz. were appointed as guardians over her children by the masters of the Orchan Chamber (WK 5073/513, fol. 152vo.) Jan Cornelisz. Visscher built two houses on the Warmoesstraet (Kam, Waar was dat huis in de Warmoesstraat?, p.47). He seems to be identical with Jan Visscher Cornelissen, who was portrayed by Rembrandt in the Night Watch and was still a bachelor when he died in 1650. Cornelis Lucasz. was the father of Neltge Cornelis, who married the cloth merchant Arent Pietersz. (of INVNO 226) in 1605 (see TEXT of R 143). Albert Martsz. remarried with Trijntje Feelinck (1561-1629), the daughter of the merchant Wynolt Feelinck. After Albert Martsz.'s death, she remarried with Adriaen van der Goes of Rotterdam (Maandblad Amstelodamum 70(1983), p. 7). On 18 May 1617, Cornelis Volckertsz., 42 years old, and Jacob Pietersz. 34, testified at the request of Albert Martsz., wine dealer, that they had gone to Germany about 7 years ago to inspect a salt mine (soutput) belonging to a certain Olivier van der Vinck, inhabitant of Amsterdam. Albert Martsz. had bought a part of the mine from Vinck but he had not received anything in return (GAA, NA 41, film 54). In an appearance before the Orphan Chamber, dated 9 April 1621, Olivier van der Vinck assisted Lysbeth van der Spyt as her guardian (WK 5073/789). After the death of Elbert Martsz., an inventory of his wine stocks was taken (Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven R.G.P. 78(1933), p. 628.) His widow (Trijntje Feelinck) and children sold the house on the Kreupelsteech, called the Campertooren, on 14 January 1621 for 13,906 f. (WK 5073/1092). On 4 September 1625, Marten Albertsz., old burgomaster of Campen (the father of Elbert Maartsz. ?), and Cornelis Lucasz., as executors of the testament of Albert Martsz., wine dealer, appeared before the Orphan Chamber and declared that the children and heirs of Albert Martsz. had inherited certain obligations. Marten, the son left by Witmer Albertsz. (of R 20479), 6 years old, was also an heir of his grandfather (WK 5073/789).
