Commentary | Anne Cornelis van Gerensteyn (Geeresteyn) is presumed to have been the sister of Jan Cornelisz. van Geeresteyn who, together with 20 other Lyeffhebbers van de Nederduytsche Poesy, gave subsidies to the poet Jan Jansz. Starter in 1622 ( Oud Holland 3(1885), p. 54). Jacob Heeremans is likely to be the son of Heere Jansz., of R 20918 and of Belitgen Wynandts, who was baptized as an adult in the Waterlandts gezinde (Mennonite) community on 25 February 1636. According to Jaap van der Veen, the framemaker Jacob Heeremans is identical with Jacob Hero, who was one of the lenders to Hendrick Uylenburgh (of R 24428 of Montias2) on 20 January 1640 (Kroniek van het Rembrandthuis 1/2 (2001), p.49). Another sister of Jan Cornelisz. van Geresteyn, named Stijntje, was said to be the widow of Pieter Hasselaer (which?). She was buried on 17 February 1678 (DTB 1047/246). |
