Commentary | The religion of Sara Jans is inferred from the portraits of predicanten and the Kerck Bijbel in her inventory. Earlier, on 21 June 1663, an inventory had been taken of the goods belonging to Jan Jansz. Heeven in the house of Sara Jans (NA 2606, film 2646). Three of the paintings in this inventory (a burning of Troy, a painting of birds --probably by Vonck-- and a breakfast piece) seem to be identical with paintings in the present inventory. On 19 June 1665, Willem Harman van Ottinga, from Amsterdam, keurmeester in de sij (controller of the silk guild), widower of Nelletje Stander, was betrothed to Sara Jans, widow of Jan Jansz. van Heeden, living on the Rosegracht (DTb 487/216). Jan Jansz. van Heeden must be identical with Jan Jansz. van Heeven of the INTRO. | |
