CommentaryOn 21 December 1618, Willem Calschuur, 22, having brought his father's consent, living on the Zeedijck, was betrothed to Grietie Gerrits, 22, assisted by her mother Neeltje Jeuriaens (DTB 668/214). Grietie Gerrits, wife of Willem Kalschuer, was buried on 15 February 1644 (DTB 1046/27). Willem Calschuer was buried on 2 December 1648 (DTB 1046/88). The family was probably Roman Catholic. Willem Calschuijr, wine dealer, is cited in connection with Josias Tulkens and Dirck van Dans (wine dealer) of INVNO 205 in Van Dillen, Bronnen tot de geschiedenis van het bedrijfsleven, R.G.P. 78(1933), p. 601. He may have been the son or nephew of Kasper Kaltschuir, born in Cologne, who passed his testament with his wife on 30 May 1588 (Van Dillen, Het oudste aandeelhoudersregister, p.. 239). Hendrick Jansz. van Kempen, cited in the INTRO, was a cloth dealer. On 14 October 1620, he presented his two children to the Orphan Chamber, whose mother was Elisabeth van den Steech (WK 5073/789, fol. 132vo). On 17 July 1626, Lambert Princen, Josias Tulkens (of INVNO 205), and Willem Calschuer, all three comitted regents of the the Wine Confrery of Amsterdam, together with Willem Henricksz., Outgert Pietersz. Spieghel (of R 27584 of Montias2), Reynier van Buren (of R 3243 of Montias2) Cornelis Wilhelmus, Isaack van Gherwen and Dirck van Dans (also of INVNO 205) declared that they had delivered on this day, for the adornment of the Confrery, a large painting painted naer 't leven by Nicolaes Elias, in which all deponents, together with Dirck Jansz. Pool, the servant of the confrery, were portrayed (Oud Holland 4(1886), p. 85). On 25 February 1634, the honorable Hendrick Jansz. van Kempen, cloth dealer, and the honorable Willem Calschuijr, wine dealer, in their quality as heirs of a garden situated on the Snijderspadt and extending to the [land of] the Guillaem van de Kieboomspadt, claimed that they had been allowed by the owners of the latter to build a closure (schuttinge) between their land and the Guilliaem van de Kieboomspadt (NA 595, fol. 462, Not. Lamberti). Anthony Calschuijr, who was 35 years old in a deposition of October 1635, was also a wine dealer. He sold his house De Roemer on the Zeedijck to Crijn Rutten (NA 597, fol. 117, Not. Lamberti). On 25 July 1636, Jacob Muijs, wine distributor (cited in the TEXT of R 49) and Anthony Pineel, sworn broker (of R 23224 of Montias2) declared at the request of Anthony Calschuijr, wine dealer, that there was some French wine in the cellar of Willem Heyn (NA 597, fol. 473). Marten Calschuijr (Anthony's twin?) who was was also 35 years old according to a deposition of 14 May 1635 may, like Anthony, have been Willem's brother (NA 695A, film 4981, Not. J. Warnaerts). On 20 November 1637, Frederick Munter, 39, and Dirck Bruyns (?), 22, wine distributors, declared at the request of Maerten Calschuyr, that they had received Bordeaux wine from the ship Gulden Steur (NA 1428, Not. C. Touw).
