Commentary | On 9 June 1639, Nicolaes Lenaerts, 28, from Amsterdam, no living parents, assisted by his sister Cornelia Lenaerts, living in the Dijckstraet, was betrothed to Johanna le Maire, 21, assisted by Johannes le Meyre, preacher in this city, her father (DTB 451/130). Johannes le Meyre is identical with Johannes le Maire of INVNO 1170, who died in 1642. On 1 April 1640, Claes Lenarts and Joanna le Maire had their son Johannes baptized in the N.K. in the presence of Joannes le Maire (DTB 42/189). Dr. Isaack le Maire may be identical with domine Isaacus la Maire, who acted as surety in a transaction with the painter Louis Victor on 10 June 1670 ( Oud Holland 4(1886), p. 221. The witness Abraham ter Haer was probably the son of the buyer Abraham ter Haer I of R 21046 of Montias2. |
