IntroductionOp den 29en januarij anno 1626 zijn vercocht dese naervolgende goederen achtergelaten bij Govert Boelisz.
CommentaryGovert Boelisz. was baptized in the O.K on 15 October 1592 (S.A.C. Dudok van Heel, data base). On 23 September 1606, Govert Boelisz., who was not quite 14 years old at the time, bought lots for 1 f. 16 st. in the Haarlem lottery. He was then living in the Vogelstruys (GAA 51/61 F 398). The identification is confirmed by the later sale of the house, de Vogelstruys, by Govert Boelisz., on 4 February 1624, for 14,300 f. (Kam, Waar was dat huis in de Warmoesstraat?, 37/11, p. 496.) It is also confirmed by the fact that his brother Hendrick Dirck Boelisz. of R 31402 of Montias2 lived at the same address. On 14 March 1617, Govert Boelisz., 24 years old, assisted by his uncle Abel Mathijsz., was betrothed to Margarita Adriaens, assisted by her mother Neeltje Lamberts, 20, living on the Warmoesstraet (DTB 421/123). Abel Mattijsz. Burgh (1579-1646) became a burgomaster of Amsterdam. Margarita (Grietje) Adriaens was the daughter of Adriaen Jansz. van Nordwijck, merchant in Amsterdam, who lived in de Groen Draeck in the Warmoesstraet (S.A.C. Dudok van Heel). In 1619, he was a regent of the O.Z. Huiszittenhuis (Wagenaar, Amsterdam.) On 26 March 1619, the honorable Wouter Davitsz. (probably of R 23401 of Montias2), Abraham Davitsz. (Wouter's brother, also called van der Mije, cited in R 29468 of Montias2); Jan Arentsz. van Naerden (of INVNO 266); Jan Loots (herring merchant of INVNO 1142 also cited in the NOTES to R 32851 of Montias2); Govert Boelis, in the name of his schoonmoeder Neeltge Allerts; Michiel Adriaensz., house carpenter; and Adriaen Breman (of R 27540 of Montias2), all freighters of a ship whose skipper was Claes Jansz. van Franicken, gave a procuration to Boudewijn van Cortenhoeff (of INVNO 1225), to go to Vrieslandt to defend their rights (NA 200, film 111). It is not clear whether Neeltge Allerts was Govert Boelisz.'s stepmother or mother-in-law (the mother of Margerita Adriaens). On 15 March 1622, Govert Boelisz. appeared before the Orphan Chamber as guardian over the four children of Gerrit Jacobsz. Bosman, whose mother was Ermtgen Adriaens, and declared that they were entitled to 43,100 f. for their mother's inheritance (WK 5073/789). Ermtgen Adriaens may have been his sister-in-law, the sister of Margerita Adriaens Brughman. Govert Boelisz. was the son of Dirck Hendricksz. Boelens (buried on 1 September 1609), merchant in the Warmoesstraat, and of Celitge Matthijsdr. (the presumed sister of Abel Matthijsz. cited above). He was buried on 1 October 1625 (notes of S.A.C. Dudok van Heel). His brother Hendrick Dirck Boelensz., after the death of Govert, became the guardian of his son Adriaen (Kam, Waar was dat huis in de Warmoesstraat? 36/21, p. 369). The heirs of Govert Boelisz., living on the East side of the Keysersgracht, apparently in the same house as Hendrick Boelisz., paid a tax of 200 f. in 1631 (Kohier, fol. 301vo, p. 69).
