Commentary | Hendrick Hoefsleger (or Hoeffslager) Christiaensz., born in Dordrecht c. 1580, left an estate valued at f 38,000. He carried on his business in the St. Anthonibreestraat (or Bredestraet) in Engelenburch. On 11 February 1612, he was betrothed to Anna van Veerssen Goosens, from Venloo, living in Dordrecht. At this time he was living on the N.Z. Achterburchwal (DTB 763/3). On 28 January 1625, the masters of the Orphan Chamber appointed Jacob van Beeck and Dirck van Wissel (of R 20620) guardians over the children left by Heyndrick Hoefslager (WK 5073/513, fol.27). On 20 March 1626, Jacob van Beeck (of R 20619 of Montias2) brought a notule to the Orphan Chamber, which certified that he had deposited 8,000 f. in the Wisselbank to benefit Gosterwyn, 12, and Ermtgen, 10, the two children left by Hendrick Hoefslager, silk cloth dealer, whose mother was Anna van Virsen (WK 5073/789). Ermgart (or Ermtgen) Hoefslager married Louys Trip (who left a fortune of f 913,000 at his death) on 25 November 1631. Goswynus (or Gosterwyn), born in Amsterdam, married Maria de Witt, the only daughter Thomas Nicolaesz., burgomaster of Dordrecht on 14 April 1643 (Elias, Vroedschap, p.556). | |
