CommentaryThe death inventory of Jan Arentsz. Delft is INVNO 269 (1637) of R 186 of Montias1. Jan Arentsz. Delff, 28 years old, was betrothed to Aaltje Jonckheijn, 30, assisted by her mother Adriana Coolhaas, on 13 November 1626 (DTB 431/473). He apparently remarried with Brechtge Ariaens who survived him. He was the brother of Cornelis Arentsz. Delff (or Delft) of R 21588 of Montias2. Arent van der Wolff may be identical with the individual of that name, born in Schiedam in 1584 who married Geertruyd Jans Pauw on 18 May 1610 (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 90). On 17 June 1627, an Orphan Chamber sale was held at request of Jan Arentsz. Delff and the guardians as previously. A note stated that the goods (which included no art) were sold at the request of Arent van den Wolff and Jacob Cornelisz. as guardians of Arent Hendricksz. The goods were also sold on the Nieuwen Dijck int Wapen van Medemblick. This was probably the house where Jan Arentsz. Delff lived on the Nieuwen Dijck. Cornelis van der Wolff, who may have been the brother of Arent van der Wolff, was perhaps the son of Jan Cornelisz. Woff whose widow, Marritie Teunis, of INVNO 326, remarried with Heyndrick Heyndricksz. Gramsbergen on 21 September 1644 (DTB 443/64).
