IntroductionOp't 6 junij 1617 zyn vercoft de naervolgende goederen achtergelaten by Charels Cooren en Anne Moriman.
CommentaryCharles Gillisz. Cooren (or Coorne), born in Gent, 32 years old, having lived four years on the Nieuwen Dijck, was betrothed to Anna (Tanneken) de Morimont , born in Antwerp, on 22 August 1598. She was assisted by her sisters Marie en Lisbeth de Morimont (DTB 408/381). Anna, Marie, and Lisbeth de Morimont were daughters of Pieter de Morimont and Margrite Darimont. Their brother Paulus de Morimont, sugar refiner, married Catharina Staes in 1598 (Poelwijk, In dienste vant suyckerbacken, p. 282). Marie (Mayken) de Morimont married the sugar refiner Pieter van den Broecke in 1580. He died in 1580. On 14 October 1599, Charles Coorne and his wife Anne Morimont had their child baptized. The witness was Dyngna Coorne (DTB 3/205). Coorne became a citizen of Amsterdam on 16 February 1601 (Gelderblom, Prosopographic Date Base). Charles Gillisz. Cooren invested 800 f. in the first subscription for V.O.C. shares (Van Dillen, Het oudste aandeelhoudersregister, p. 189). He was also a buyer at auction (R 27489 of Montias2) and the older brother of Samuel Cooren (Koren) of INVNO 645 and the buyer at R 24944 of Montias2. Both may have been related to Maria Cooren of INVNO 679. Note also that Anne Cooren, who seems to have been Charles's daughter, was a buyer at the present sale.
