Postscript: Den 5den ocktober 1608 is betalt aen Johanna Artsen dese boven geschreven partien geteijckent met de +, bedragen(de) 490 gl. ende daer blijft noch haerentwegen die bovenste partyen die sij seijde haer toecomende, bedraeght 24 gl. Signed Johanna Artsen.
Commentary	The paintings in this sale were apparently imported from Antwerp. Jaques van der Lamen was a painter and art dealer. He was born in Antwerp in 1584 and became a master of the St. Luke's guild in his native city in 1604. He was Lutheran. He was living in the Nes at the time of this sale. He was back in Antwerp between 1609 and 1616, then in Brussels, and back in Amsterdam in 1621 (Briels, Vlaamse schilders, 1997, pp. 350-1). In 1623, Jaques van der Lamen, painter from Antwerp, 39 years old, declared at the request of Jacob van Nyeulant (also painter), that two years previously, he had, together with the painter Jan Baptista van Fornenberch and Gerrit Martsz. from Rotterdam, acted as good man (arbiter) in the sale of 24 paintings that Guilliame Wittenbroot, art dealer in Antwerp, to Jacob van Nyeulant for 250 f. (Bredius, Künstler-inventare, vol. VI, p. 2174.) He had died by 5 October 1626, when his widow Anneken Lemmens (the sister of the painter Jacques Lemmens, who had been his apprentice) empowered the procureur of the Court of Holland to defend her on appeal in a suit brought by Gillis Smissaert (of R 30704) concerning a painting representing a Cunstcamer, to which good artists (frayen kunstenaers) had contributed. According to a verdict of the Court of 12 October 1624, this painting was to be sold bij executie by Hendrick van Sijl in the name of Smissaert (Briels, ibid.) Johanna Artsen has not been identified.
