CommentaryGerrit and Jan Jacobsz. Coeckebacker, at whose request the goods were sold, are presumed to be the sons of Jacob Jansz. Coeckebacker (who died in 1595) and of Aecht Jandsdr. Benningh. They were probably also the brothers of Claes Jacobsz. Coeckebacker (of R 28510 of Montias2), who was a member of the Raed of Amsterdam but was dismissed in 1623 (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 214). Jan Jacobsz. Bennink Couckebacker (probably of R 30281) invested 6000 f. in the first subscription for V.O.C. shares (Van Dillen, Het oudste aandeelhoudersregister, p. 126). Tryn Gerrits was probably a relative of the Coeckebackers.
