IntroductionTen selven dage ten versoecke van Hans van Conincksloo zyn vercocht de naervolgende goederen, ende de teckeningen by Jacques van der Wet tot David Born.
CommentaryFrom the identity of two of the works of art in this inventory with items in Gillis van Conincxloo's death inventory of 19 January 1607, N. de Roever implied that the paintings in this sale, sold at the request of Hans van Conincxloo II, were part of Gillis van Conincxloo's estate (most of which was sold in the sale of 1 March 1607 (INVNO 733)). This is highly uncertain and rather improbable. Hans van Coninxloo II, the son of Hans van Coninxloo I who died about 1595, married Magdalena Ruts (or Rudts) in 1588. After Magdalena's death, he remarried with Clara Wouters from Antwerp, 37 years old, in 1599 in Amsterdam. He became a poorter of Amsterdam in 1605. He spent the last two years of his life in Embden where he died shortly before June 1620. His son Hans van Coninxloo III was also an art dealer.
