Commentary | Jonge Ellert van Diemen, the son of Ellert Hermansz. van Diemen, who was buried on 28 August 1577, and Aertgen Jaspersdr. Appelman, was married to Trijn Cornelisdr. who was buried on 7 July 1601 (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 330). According to Elias, he was a flagbearer for a company of Schutters, but the evidence for this comes from the delivery of stormhoeden to Allard van Diemen in 1573, who may well be the elder Van Diemen ( Oud Holland, 4(1885), p. 291).
