Commentary | Emanuel Pelt, the son of Philips Pelt (of R 28903 of Montias2) was baptized in the Lutheran church on 11 December 1605 (DTB 138/162). He married Anna Verpoorten at some unknown date (before the following baptism). On 21 September 1634, Emanuel Pelt had his daughter Elisabeth baptized in the Lutheran Church in the presence of Abraham Pelt (II) and Elisabeth Barents (DTB 140/124). On 29 November 1635, Emanuel Pelt had his daughter Anna baptized in the same church in the presence of Hans Verpoorten, Anna and Susanna Pelt (DTB 140/175). On 17 June 1640, he had his daughter Kristina baptized in the same church in the presence of Fransois Lodowycksz. (of the above INTRO) and Sara Vermeeren (DTB 140/397). Emanuel Pelt also was a buyer at auction (R 34657 of Montias2). He seems to have been a spices merchant (as his business partner Franchoijs Lodewijcx surely was). On the Pelt family, see the comprehensive genealogy in M. Simon Thomas, Onze IJslandvaarders in de 17de en 18de eeuw, Amsterdam, 1935, appendix G. | |
