CommentaryThe introductory text is from an inventory dated 29 April 1648, the objects in which are listed without valuation. The inventory in this record is from a document dated 15-16 May 1648, which represents the valuation (taxatie) of the first inventory. Two entries with attributions that appear in the first inventory but not in the second, have been added after the last entry of the 15-16 May inventory and numbered lots [0156] and [0157]. Values are given in gulden; all numbers are original through 0153. Lambert Harmensz., hat stuffer (hoedestofferder), is undoubtedly the same individual, there called a hatmaker, who was the buyer of 8 lots of prints and drawings in 1637 (R 33521 of Montias2). Note that there were no prints in the present inventory and only one drawing (by Quast). Judging from the present inventory, Lambert Hermansz. seems to have been an art dealer in addition to being a hatmaker. He was married, first, to Christina Dirx and, second, to Marritge Pieters (on 31 December 1647). Anthony Pietersz. and Jan Pietersz. Collaert may have been the brothers of his first wife. The painter Johannes Collaert, who did the appraisals, was probably a close relative of Anthony and Jan Pietersz. Collaert.
