Commentary	Pieter Croon was the son of Jacob Croon. On 29 November 1617, Pieter Croon, from Riga, 28 years old, assisted by his mother Geert van Noordstock, living across the Gelderse Kaey, was betrothed to Lysbeth Hudden, 22, assisted by Vrou Hudde, her aunt, having no parents. Both were literate (DTB 422/78). Pieter Jacobsz. Croon was portrayed with other schutters of the company of Lieutenant Albert Coenraetsz. Burgh and Captain Pieter Evertsz. Hulft (of R 31228 of Montias2), by Werner van den Valckert (of R 20911 of Montias2), in 1625 (Kopstukken 1600-1800, p. 199). In February 1645, Pieter Croon signed a petition to the Vroedschap calling for the enforcement of currency regulations issued in 1622 (Van Dillen, Wisselbanken R.G.P. 59(1925), p. 90). Pieter Croon was buried in the Zuider Kerk on 19 November 1652 (DTB 1091/17). Jacob Jacobsz. Croon de jonge, who was probably Pieter's brother, was born in Riga in 1584 and died in Amsterdam in 1654. He was portrayed in the same group portrait as his brother cited above.
