Commentary | Jan Tengnagel was born about 1584. At first an artist-painter, he became substitute sherriff (substituut schout) in 1625. On 19 November 1611, he was betrothed to Meynsjen Symons, the daugher of the painter Jan Pynas and of Nelletge Symons in the presence of Rombout Jacobsz. (who was probably the uncle of Meynsjen Symons). He was also a buyer at WK auction. For more information about Jan Tengnagel, see the NOTES to R 19457 of Montias2. | |
