Commentary | Pieter Corssen (Coorenbreeck) was the son of Cornelis Pietersz. (Coorenbreeck), who in turn was the son of Pieter Gysbertsz. Plemp. His uncle (the brother of Cornelis Pietersz.) was Gysbert Pietersz. Plemp, married to Bely Cornelis (the daughter of Cornelis Cornelisz. Plemp). His cousin (the son of Gysbert Pietersz. and Bely Cornelis) was the poet and lawyer Cornelis Gysbrechtsz. Plomp of R 21978 of Montias2. Pieter Corssen, born about 1581, wine dealer on the N.Z. Kerkhof, was betrothed to Mary Jans van Marcken on 21 June 1602. She was the daughter of Jan van Marcken Doedesz. and of Maria Jacobs Nobel (I. van Eeghen in De Navorscher 92(1950), p.147). Pieter Corssen Corenbreeck was a member of Rhetorical Camer In Liefde Bloijende in 1616 (Oud Holland 22(1904), p.41). In 1631, the son of Pieter Cortsz. Corenbrech, who was recognized by the Orphan Chamber, paid a tax of 30 f. (Kohier fol. 312vo, p.72.) On the family portraits, see R 6849, 6850, and 6851 and R 6862 of Montias2. Andries Hollesloot, whose portrait was also in the inventory, was the father of Duyfgen Andries. Andries Boelens Jansz. Hollesloot, schout in 1573 (before the Alteration), was removed because of his R.C. religion in 1579, and died on 26 January 1619 (Elias, Vroedschap, p. 305). The portrait of de oude Jan Hollesloot in R 7130 of Montias2 may be that of Jan Ysbrantsz. Hollesloot, who died in March 1555, the father of Andries Boelens Jansz. Hollesloot (ibid.) Among the books: Catholike sermoenen. There is little doubt that the Hollesloot and Corenbreeck families remained loyal to the old Catholic faith. | |
