CommentaryIn 1606, Wolphert Webber, living in the Warmoesstraet, in Het Wapen van Straetsburgh, bought lots for 3 f. 12 st. (GAA, 13/2 F 85). He became a well known wine dealer who declared faillit shortly before his death. He was married to Agniesien Cocx, the daughter of Hendrick Jansz. Cocx, who was the nephew of Maria Cocx, married to Hans Lenaertsz., of INVNO 568. For details, see the NOTES to R 20317 of Montias2. Among the books: Cathegismus Ursini and Institutio Calvini. Among the debts by the estate: Owed Jan Fonteyn 1,200 f. for an obligation; to Jan Pietersz. Swellinck f. 1,800 f.; to Samuel de Gardijn for the heirs of Jacob Rombouts, 2,400 f. at 5 1/2 interest; to the widow of Marcus de Vogelaer, 3,600 f.; to Eduard Emtinck (cited in R 508 of Montias1), 3,600 f.; to the widow of Joris Jorisz. (probably Annetge Backer of R 3040 of Montias2), 1,200 f.; to Jan Cock, 2,200 f.; to Jan Selijn Hendricksz. f. 367: 9: 10; and to Christoffel Cock, f. 10:16. Total debts amounted to 27,293 f. which exceeded assets. Among his assets: old wine and vinegar, shares in the V.O.C. valued at 1,560 f. and in the W.I.C. at 3,200 f. and accounts receivable 2,364 f.
