Commentary | Joris Oorschot, born in Alkmaar in 1625 died in Amsterdam and was buried in the N.K. on 18 December 1681. He was a dealer in silk cloth, first on the Bloemgracht (1651), later on the Keisersgracht (1667). He was the son of Dirck Oorschot and Catharina Jorisdr. He was married first with Maria Coymans (1626-1666), the daughter of Isaack Coymans (I) of R 28346, then with Anna Goethals, the daughter of Pieter Goethals (of R 33324 of Montias2) on 13 September 1667, and finally with Geertruy van Swieten, widow of Rem Aertsen, on 28 January 1674 (Elias, Vroedschap, pp. 760-1). The date of the inventory is the date when the paintings were recorded. |
