CommentaryIn 1606, Jan Andriesz. Kaen, bierstecker (beer distributor) in de Pau on the O.Z. Voorburgwal, bought lots in the Haarlem lottery. The collector was Philips Lenertsz., bierstecker, of R 29712 and of INVNO 1228, who was also one of the buyers at the present sale (GAA, 9/41 F 56). On 2 March 1612, Wouter Coensz., balance maker, lodged a complaint (insinuatie) against Jan Andriesz. Caen (NA 422, film 6438). On 20 January 1621, the children of Jan Jansz. Kan (of R 29717? of Montias2), heirs of Jan Andriesz. Kaen, sold a house situated outside the St. Anthonijspoort (GAA, WK 5073/913). In addition to Jan Jansz. Kan, Jan Andriesz. is known to have had the following children: Andries Jansz. Kan, of INVNO 668 and of R 29738 of Montias2; and Aaltje Jans Kaen who married Thomas Pietersz. of R 21127 of Montias2. Willem Jansz. Kan (or Kaen) of R 27915 of Montias2 may also have been his son.
