Art collector, businessman, banker, diplomat, statesman, governor of New York, and vice president of the United States.
He was married twice; once to Lucy Kimball of Long Island, d.1871, and Anna L Street who was a daughter of a general and Washington, DC, socialite (New York Times, 9/03/1899).
Morton was a member of the Metropolitan, Union, Central, Union League, Republican, Lawyer's, Tuxedo Clubs, and the Down Town Association. Morton was also a member of the New England Society, American Geographic Society, the sons of the American Revolution, and a patron of the National Academy of Design, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the American Museum of Natural History.
