Collector, financier and philanthropist.
In addition to collection European paintings, he had work by Hudson River School artists and its contemporaries; with art work by J.W. Casilear, Thomas Cole, Asher B Durand, Standford Gifford, Kensett, E.L. Henry, and F.E. Church.
Jesup was married to Maria van Antwerp DeWitt Jesup (1834-1914), AKA Mrs. Morris Ketchum Jesup.
