Abiel Abbot Low, 1811-1893, was an American entrepreneur, businessman, trader and philanthropist who gained most of his fortune from the China trade, importing teas, porcelains, and silk, and building and operating a fleet of reputable clipper ships.
Collection includes partnership papers for the firm A.A. Low Brothers, letters from merchants in Canton, business papers and 1869 report on trade with China, including valuable pricing information on the price of various goods including tea, silver, silks, porcelain.
