historical notes Lizzie Plummer Bliss, aka Lillie, was a New York art collector, patron, and one of the founders of the Museum of Modern Art.

Bliss collected work by, among others, Degas, Renoir, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Matisse, Picasso, and Davies. She left most of her paintings to the Museum of Modern Art with the provision that they may sell or trade any work they wished.
