historical notes Collector, inventor, author businessman and son of Leander J McCormick a founder of the McCormick Harvesting Machine Company, in Chicago.

McCormick's collection included bronzes, paintings of the early English and Dutch Schools, old furniture and silver, enamels, rugs and armor.

Part of the collection was acquired while living in Endland, in 1887 he married Miss Constance Plummer of Canterbury, England, and lived in that country until 1917 when he returned to Chicago.

McCormick was a member of the Chicago, Casino, Onwentsia, Saddle, and Cycle Clubs.
