Collector, dealer, and son of Dikran Kelekian, Charles Dikran Kelekian joined his father’s gallery in New York in the 1920s. He continued the family’s business for several decades, dealing in a wide range of antiquities. His primary areas of interest included Egyptian art, Islamic ceramics, and Coptic textiles. In addition to managing the gallery, he was involved in the restoration of objects, particularly Coptic textiles. Charles worked with museums and private collectors in the United States and abroad. The gallery remained active under his direction until his death in 1982. |
