She was the sister of the media mogul, Walter Annenberg, and she married New York financier Ira Haupt, in 1936 (2nd husband). Her first marriage to Chicago businessman, Norman E Bensinger, ended in divorce.

Haupt's collection mainly consisted of work by Impressionist, such as Monet, Gauguin, Cézanne, Renoir and van Gogh; however, it also included work by Giacomett, Henry Moore, and Mark Rothko.

Haupt was the editor and publisher of "Seventeen Magazine."
