historical notes Son of a Pittsburgh steel magnate (Singer and Nimick Company) William Henry Singer Jr. was an art collector and artist.

Singer and his wife, Anna, owned work from the Barbizon School, by contemporary American artists, Dutch and French Sculpture, European and Asian antiques.

Singer was a member of the National Academy of Design, the Allied Artists of America, The Players, the American Art Association in Paris and the St. Lucas Art Association in Amsterdam.

Artwork form the Singer collection can be found at both the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts (Hagerstown, MD) and at Singer Leren in The Netherlands.
