historical notes Mala Rubinstein was an art patron and collector, beauty expert, and Helena Rubinstein Inc. She was the niece of Helena Rubinstein (1870-1965).

Rubinstein collected Italian sculpture, African art and French paintings. Her collection included paintings by Kandinsky, Vuillard, Derain, Brauner, Signac, Vlaminck, Utrillo and Soutine; and sculptures by Guadannucci, Helen Sardeaux, Nadelman, Fazzini and Perez.

Her collecting habits also encompassed the decorative arts and she owned, among other objects, French Chairs, nineteenth-century Belgium blown glass horses, Mexican antiques and a nineteenth-century Russian tea set.
