historical notes In 1898, cousins Bruno (1872-1941) and Paul (1871-1926) Cassirer opened an art gallery and publishing company at 35 Viktoriastrasse in Berlin (Kunstsalon Paul Cassirer, aka Galerie Paul Cassirer). The gallery was closely related to the Berlin Succession.

In 1901, the business was divided by the cousins and Paul ran the art gallery and Bruno the publishing side of the business (15 Derfflingerstrasse).

In 1908 Paul began publishing, he committed suicide in 1926 and the business continued until 1933.
