historical notes JJane Engelhard, nee Marie Annette "Jane" Reiss was an art collector and philanthropist.

Engelhard was married twice; first, to the Dutch Banker and art collector Fritz Mannheimmer (1890–1939) and second, to the industrialist and art collector Charles W Engelhard (1917–1971).

After Mr. Engelhard's death in 1971, Mrs. Engelhard continued to collect art. She donated the Charles Engelhard Court to the Metropolitan Museum American Wing in 1980 where she served as a trustee of the Met (1974-1981 trustee emeritus until 2004).
