Art collector and head of the Acme Steel Company in Chicago, retired in 1939. In 1941, founded the Norton Gallery and School of Art in West Palm Beach with his wife Elizabeth Calhoun Norton (1881–1947).
Norton's second wife was the sculptress Ann Weaver Norton (d. 1982).
