historical notes Mary Ann was a collector, philanthropist, widower and the second wife of collector George Blumenthal (1858-1941) – they wed in 1935. Mary Ann collected 18th century works of art.

Mary Ann married her first husband, James Blanchard Clews (1844-1934), who was the head of the banking firm Henry Clews & Co., in 1926.

In 1943, she married General Ralph Kenyon Robertson (1883-1964).

In 1969, Mary Ann married her fourth and last husband the Baron Carl von Wrangell of California. She was known as Baroness Charles P Wrangell-Rokassowsky.
