Kate (Katherine) Seney Simpson was an art collector, patron and daughter of the banker and collector George I Seney (1826-1893).
Simpson married John Woodruff Simpson (1850-1920) in 1889 and together they formed an art collection which included work by, among others, August Rodin, Peter Paul Rubens, Jean-Charles Cazin, Jean Siméon Chardin, Clodion, Jean-Honoré Fragonard, Jacob van Ruisdael, Aelbert Cuyp, and Sir Henry Raeburn. She gave much of the collection to the National Galleyr of Art in D. C. and the Musuem of Modern Art.
She had one daughter, Jean Walker Simpson who died in 1980.
