Richard Townley Haines Halsey was a collector of American decorative arts, a member of the governing board of the New York Stock Exchange (1900-1924), vice president of the Art commission of New York, Met trustee and founder of the American Wing, and was married to Elizabeth Tower Halsey (1904-1976).
In addition to lending furniture and silver to the Hudson-Fulton Celebration, 1909, Halsey lent the following work to the American Paintings section:
