Art dealer who specialized in German Expressionist and Russian avant-garde art.
According to the New York Times, Mr. Hutton anglicized his family name, Hutschnecker, when he came to the United States from Germany in 1935. He worked as an architectural designer in both the US and Germany (New York Times, 1/13/1990).
Hutton opened his gallery,in 1956, where he concentrated at first on French art but gradually included German artists. In 1961, Hutton's gallery held the first United States show of Gabriele Munter's (New York Times, 1/13/1990). And in 1963 he mounted the exhibition ''Der Blaue Reiter'' (''The Blue Rider''), which included Munter and in some instances the same works that were shown in the ''Blaue Reiter'' shows organized by the artists Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc in Munich in 1911 and 1912 (New York Times, 1/13/1990).
Mr. Hutton interests shifted to the Russian avant-garde when he mounted an exhibition in 1971 (New York Times, 1/13/1990).
