historical notes Meyer Potamkin was a Philadelphia banker and philanthropist who collected American Art with his wife Vivian. The collection included work by Georgia O'Keeffe, Red Grooms, Winslow Homer, Mary Cassatt and John Sloan.

The Potamkins donated paintings to many museums and galleries, including the National Gallery of Art in Washington and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
