George Gard “Buddy” DeSylva was an American songwriter, film producer and record executive. Along with Johnny Mercer and Glenn Wallichs he founded Capitol Records. DeSylva became one of the top Tin Pan Alley songwriters of the era. With the arrival of talking pictures, DeSylva moved to Hollywood under contract with Fox Studios. In 1941 he became the Executive Producer at Paramount, a position he would hold until 1944.
DeSylva collected work by Paul Cezanne, Paul Gauguin, Paul Clemens, Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Camille Pissaro, Odilon Redon, Aristide Maillol, Auguste Rodin, Edouard Manet, Henri Matisse, Amedeo Modigliani, Berthe Morisot, Pierre Auguste Renoir, and Jean Louis Forain. |
