He left 230 prints by Robert Nanteuil to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Other prints owned by Ballard were auctioned off by the Samuel Freeman Auctioneers from 1938-1940. In 1884, Ballard married Nina Gertrude Schefel (1864- 1937), and they had three children: Frederick Lyman Ballard (1888-1952), Ernest Schwefel Ballard (1885-1952), and Mary Ballard Duryee (1896-1988, m.
