historical notes John Chin Young was an American painter, lithographer, and art collector, 1909-1997.

Young had a collection of Asian, Pacific and African art, which he donated to the Honolulu Academy of Arts and the University of Hawaii at Manoa as the John Young Museum. The gifts were given the name John Young Museum of Art.
