Tillie Sunstein Speyer was an artist and fine and decorative arts collector. She owned work by, among others, George Romney and Tiffany. Speyer had sculptures displayed within the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Norton Gallery in Palm Beach, FL.
Speyer was married to businessman and real estate investor, Alexander C. Speyer (1884-1959). They had five children, including A. James Speyer (1913–1986), a Chicago architect and curator, Darthea Speyer (1919-2014), an art dealer and owner of the Paris gallery Galerie Darthea Speyer, and Nora Speyer (1922-2024), a painter and gallery owner.
