In 1993, a subsidiary of Wildenstein & Co. entered into a joint venture with The Pace Gallery, the leading dealer in contemporary art in the United States.
The resulting partnership created a new entity, Pace Wildenstein, which is based in New York and represents some of America's foremost living artists as well as the estates of major figures of modern art.
In 2010, the Gallery split into two separate entities as it had been in the past. Pace Gallery will opesated the spaces on East 57th Street and the Wildenstein headquarters will be on East 64th Street in Manhattan and had never taken Pace’s name and will continue to run as before.
Pace bought out Wildenstein’s portion of the inventory they jointly owned, which included works by Rothko, Barnett Newman and others. It also bought out Wildenstein’s 49 percent share of PaceWildenstein.
