Businessman, philanthropist, art collector and patron, John D Rockefeller, III, collected Asian art and founded the Asia Society in 1956, to promote better relations between the Asian and American continents. He and his wife, Blanchette Rockefeller, also collected American Art.
Mr. Rockefeller left his Asian collection to the Asia Society.
