Kirkor Minassian was a dealer in Islamic and Near-Eastern antiquities with galleries in New York and Paris.
Mr. Minassian maintained a personal art collection which focused upon Islamic ceramics, sculptural objects, textiles, and manuscripts. Though he specialized in Near Eastern art he collected antiquities from all corners of the ancient world.
Minassian’s collections included paintings by the master Bihzan and calligraphy by masters Kemal ed-Din Mir Ali Husseini, Mir Amad, and Fakhiri, among others.
Minassian gave the Library of Congress Orietnalia in 1929 which included, among other items, a parchment Kufic script from an eighth century Koran and a number of Sumerian clay tablets from circa 2,800 B. C.
Minassian was a member of the New York Numismatic and Oriental Societies. He married the former Antoinette Clark and had three children (Mrs. Manas Khubisserian, Madeline and Adrienne Minassian)
