historical notes Known as Dolly, Amelia Perls (nee Bumenthal) was a collector, gallery owner for more than 60 years, and trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The Perls donated their collection of African collection of royal art from the kingdom of Benin to the MET in 1991. And in 1996, they gave The Museum paintings by School of Paris artists such as Picasso, Modigliani, and Leger.
